Pope Clement VII

Giulio Zenobio Cardinal de' Medici, Cardinal Priest of San Lorenzo in Damaso, Archbishop of Florence and of Narbonne, Vice-Chancellor of the Holy Roman Church, Legate in all Tuscany. Elected Bishop of Rome on 19 November 1523 in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, taking the name Clement VII, and was crowned on 26 November.

Pope Clement VII died on 25 September 1534 in Rome, in the 11th year of his pontificate. He was buried in the Patriarchal Vatican Basilica, and his mortal remains were transferred on 6 June 1542 to the basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, Rome.
