Pope Alexander VIII

His Eminence Pietro Vito Cardinal Ottoboni, Cardinal Bishop of Porto e Santa Rufina, Sub-Dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals, Secretary of the Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Roman and Universal Inquisition. Elected Bishop of Rome on 6 October 1689 in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, taking the name Alexander VIII.

Pope Alexander VIII died on 1 February 1691 in Rome. He was buried on 5 February in the Patriarchal Vatican Basilica, and his mortal remains were transferred on 18 February 1706 within the same basilica.
