Pope Paul VI

His Eminence Giovanni Battista Cardinal Montini, Cardinal Priest of Santi Silvestro e Martino ai Monti, Archbishop of Milan. Elected Bishop of Rome on 21 June 1963 in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, taking the name Paul VI.

Pope Paul VI died on 6 August 1978 at Castelgandolfo. He was buried on 12 August in the Grottoes of the Patriarchal Vatican Basilica.
